The joy of farm shops

Foodies make a bee-line for farm shops when they find a good one, but are they really worth going so far out of the way for?

Transporting yourself to foodie heaven by seeking out your local farm shop is like turbo-charging your weekly food shop away from the supermarkets. I was introduced to the joys of the farm shop by partner, Anni, on a trip to her homeland of North Yorkshire. Since that day I’ve not looked back. The first thing that hits you at Keelham Farm Shop is the smell of fresh fruit, veg, meat and more. Walking around it was like indulging a hobby you haven’t had a chance to enjoy for a while.

Fresh produce abounds at this pantry-filling paradise. You start exploring everything from beautitful through to exotic fruit picked further afield, before heading over the meat counter and having your pick from some of the delicious meats reared only a few miles away. If you’ve never explored a food shop then I implore you to go. There’s no denying your wallet will take a bit of a pounding, they are now Aldi but the experience and qualityt food is well worth the extra expense and the experience is not to be missed for any serious foodie.

Escape the rat race of the multi-nationals and embrace food made for you at your own pace…
